Developers, site selectors and others in the commercial real estate industry have a new online source to find parcels in Erie County.

A virtual tour of 30 industrial and business parks has been crafted by the Erie County Department of Planning & Environment, with a big assist from National Grid and the Erie County Industrial Development Agency. The site not only highlights the properties and important statistics but also gives viewers detailed imagery using state-of-the-art GIS technology.

"We are constantly thinking of ways to make development easier for people interested in investing in our community," said Erie County Executive Chris Collins.

The website, www.ecidany.com, lists available land with at least 10 acres of developable parcels. That includes such locations as Muir Woods in Amherst, Grand Island Gateway Center and Whiting Industrial Park in Akron.

Unlike other online options, the new county site focuses on industrial and business parks.
"Erie County's industrial and business parks offer tremendous opportunity and this website is about showcasing that opportunity," Collins said. "This is a tool we want used."

Ken Swanekamp, Erie County's director of business assistance, said an outreach campaign is underway with area developers, Realtors and agencies to educate them about the site.
The key, he said, is the detailed information that is available on the new site.

The focus, though, is the real estate options.

"If you don't have the product, then it really doesn't matter how snazzy the site is," Swanekamp said.
