Working with BUDC, National Grid has been a key partner in a number of exciting development projects in the City of Buffalo.
Through its Brownfield Assistance program, National Grid will provide funds to the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) for development of the Canal Side project at lower Main Street. The grant will aid in the preparation of land at the former Memorial Auditorium into a shovel-ready site. A second grant, through National Grid's Urban Corridor Revitalization program, will aid in the development and re-creation of a series of historic canals at the Canal Side project.
In cooperation with BUDC, National Grid will provide grants to developer Rocco Termini for two rehabilitation projects in downtown Buffalo. Reuse of the AM&A's building will see a long-vacant structure revitalized into a mix of uses. National Grid's Economic Development program is also being considered for Termini's proposed redevelopment of the Lafayette Hotel into a mix of uses on the same block.
On the 500 block of Main Street, developer Roger Trettel's conversion of a vacant, century-old structure into a mix of residential and commercial space will be aided by a grant through National Grid's Main Street Revitalization program. The grant will be administered by BUDC. For more information on National Grid's Economic Development programs, click below.
