Elk Street Corridor

An initiative to create a guiding document for proper redevelopment of an area surrounding Elk Street, which is adjacent to the Buffalo River in the City of Buffalo, was led by BUDC. The Elk Street Corridor Redevelopment Plan recommends strategies for remediation and reuse of vacant, former industrial land into new public spaces and a mix of back office, light manufacturing, distribution and retail uses. A collaboration among consultants and both public and private stakeholders resulted in the completion of the document in October 2008. The completed plan will be incorporated into the larger Buffalo River Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA).
