Pleasant Avenue and Scott Street in Hamburg gets a new Rail Crossing

The Village of Hamburg has a new rail crossing, thanks to a collaborative effort among The Buffalo Southern Railroad forces (BSOR), The County of Erie Highway Department, NYSDOT, Hamburg MayorTom Moses, the Hamburg Village DPW and the ECIDA. Pleasant Avenue at Scott Street is a heavily used crossing, especially at rush hour. The project was completed in just three days--including a holiday! Sections of rail that were removed had virtually no strength left at their base from continuous road salt for many, many years, and a new, more durable pre-cast concrete panel system was installed that has been used at several sites on the BSOR. Now pedestrians, bicyclists, cars, trucks and trains can pass through this crossing in a much safer manner.
